Gandhinagar: Ahmedabad will officially begin its journey as the host of the 2030 Commonwealth Games when the host baton and the Games flag are handed over to Ahmedabad during the closing ceremony of the Glasgow edition at 1.30 am on Monday.Deputy chief minister Harsh Sanghavi is attending the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, where Ahmedabad will formally be welcomed as the next host city in the centenary year of the Games.According to official sources, the closing ceremony of the Games will feature performances of internationally acclaimed singers and musicians from India and other countries. The event will also feature a cultural journey across India with a special focus on Gujarat.Sanghavi posted a video of a number of singers and musicians, including Shankar Mahadevan and Rishabh Sharma, ahead of the closing ceremony. “The energy level of everyone has gone up,” Sanghavi wrote on his X timeline.“Heartfelt thanks to First Minister @JohnSwinney and the people of Scotland for hosting us at the baton-passing dinner in Glasgow. A memorable evening as we prepare to carry the Commonwealth spirit forward to Amdavad 2030,” Sanghavi said in a social media post.The state govt said that Sanghavi presented medals to Indian boxers at the medals ceremony in Glasgow on Saturday. “Witnessing the Indian tricolour fly high on the international stage is an immensely proud and exhilarating moment,” the deputy CM said.
