MYSURU: PM Narendra Modi Saturday said his govt was working to ensure a discrimination-free education system and equal opportunities for all, adding that offering higher education in mother tongue was helping remove language barriers and expand access to professional courses.Modi, after inaugurating the Viveka Smaraka — Swami Vivekananda cultural youth centre — in Mysuru, said the spiritual leader regarded equality and education as twin pillars of the nation’s progress.“Ensuring there is no discrimination or lack of opportunities in education has now become the nation’s vision. Facilities are now available to pursue studies in fields such as medicine and engineering in one’s mother tongue. This is helping curb discrimination based on language,” he said.The PM said Centre was also overhauling the education system to equip young people to meet the demands of the 21st century.His remarks came days after Centre appointed Pralhad Joshi as Union education minister, following the resignation of Dharmendra Pradhan amid widespread protests over the NEET question paper leak.
