Kanpur: A 24-year-old woman allegedly died by suicide in Kanpur’s Tari Durgapur village late Friday after she failed to clear the UP Police constable recruitment examination.Her father, Ramlakhan, said Harshita taught at a private school and was also preparing for competitive examinations. He said she appeared for the UP Police constable recruitment exam and the result was declared on Friday.According to the family, Harshita scored 222 marks while the merit cut-off was 249. Her father claimed the result left her distressed and the family tried to console her several times, but she remained withdrawn.On Friday night, after having dinner, Harshita went to her room, saying she was going to sleep. Around 6 am on Saturday, her mother, Kanti, went to wake her up, but the door was locked. The family looked through the ventilator and saw her body hanging.Police and a forensic team reached the spot and started an investigation.
