Ganderbal, July 31: Eight persons were injured in two separate incidents, including a gas cylinder leakage and a road accident, in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district on Friday. All the injured were initially treated at Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Kangan before being referred to SKIMS Soura for specialized treatment.
In the first incident, three persons sustained burn injuries after a gas cylinder reportedly leaked inside a private hut at Surfraw Gund.
The injured were identified as Abdul Hameed Wani (37), son of Ghulam Nabi Wani; Manzoor Ahmad Ganie (40), son of Ghulam Nabi; and Shahriyar Majeed (40), son of Abdul Majeed, all residents of Wakura in Ganderbal.
According to the attendants of the injured, the burns were caused by a gas cylinder leakage inside the private hut. The injured were immediately shifted to SDH Kangan, where doctors provided first aid and necessary medical treatment. Owing to the nature of their injuries, all three were referred to SKIMS Soura for advanced treatment.
Meanwhile, in a separate road accident, five persons were injured after a Xylo vehicle (Registration No. JK10-5974) collided with an electric pole near Hayan Bridge in Kangan.
The injured were identified as the driver, Ashgar Ali (27), son of Mohd Hassan Ali, a resident of Kargil, along with Hassan Askri of Leh, Junaid Iqbal of Leh, Liyaqat Ali, son of Ghulam Abbas of Leh, and 10-year-old Mohd Danish, son of Abdul Bari, also a resident of Leh.
Soon after the accident, all the injured were rushed to SDH Kangan, where they received initial treatment. Doctors later referred them to SKIMS Soura for further medical care.
Police have taken cognizance of both incidents and initiated the necessary proceedings. Authorities are ascertaining the exact circumstances surrounding the gas cylinder leakage and the road accident.
