Chandigarh: The municipal corporation Thursday held consultations with market welfare associations (MWAs) of sectors 7, 8, 9 and 20 on a proposal to involve them in the operation and management of select paid parking sites.The civic body said the move aims to improve parking management, maintenance and public convenience while encouraging greater stakeholder participation in civic services.Representatives of the MWAs said the proposal would be placed before their executive committees and resident welfare association representatives for detailed deliberations. They said formal feedback and suggestions would be submitted to the MC after consultations.MC officials stressed that the decision-making process would remain transparent and participatory, and assured that all representations received from the market bodies would be examined before any final decision is taken.The meeting concluded with an agreement to continue consultations on measures aimed at improving parking management and civic amenities for residents, visitors and traders.
