Chennai: A signal failure between Ennore and Tiruvottiyur on Wednesday evening disrupted suburban train services on the Chennai Beach–Gummidipoondi section, delaying multiple trains and leaving thousands of commuters stranded during peak hours.Railway officials said the unexpected signalling error occurred around 4.30pm, forcing a train to halt. Hundreds of passengers remained stuck inside the train, while many got down and walked along the tracks to reach the nearest station.The fault was rectified by 5.30pm after railway staff restored the signalling system. Officials said at least four suburban trains bound for Chennai Beach and Gummidipoondi were delayed by nearly an hour because of the disruption. Normal train services resumed after the signalling issue was resolved.
