Gorakhpur: Marking the auspicious occasion of Guru Purnima, chief minister and Gorakshapeethadhishwar Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday performed the special ritual of Mahayogi Guru Gorakhnath in accordance with Nath sect traditions at the Gorakhnath Temple.The chief minister also offered prayers to his spiritual guru, late Mahant Avaidyanath and the latter’s guru, the late Mahant Digvijaynath, besides Yogiraj Baba Gambhirnath and other revered saints of the Nath tradition. He expressed gratitude to the lineage of gurus for their guidance and blessings in the service of public welfare.Special religious ceremonies began early morning at the temple and concluded with a traditional collective aarti. Extending greetings on Guru Purnima, Yogi Adityanath wished prosperity and well-being for all citizens.While worship of Guru Gorakhnath and the Nath saints forms regular part of the Gorakshapeethadhishwar’s daily routine whenever he is in Gorakhpur, Guru Purnima calls for unique rituals and ceremonies. Amid Vedic chants, Yogi Adityanath performed elaborate worship of Guru Gorakhnath, various deities installed in the temple complex, and statues of saints associated with the Nath tradition.He first paid obeisance at the shrine of Guru Gorakhnath before offering prayers at the temples of various deities on the complex and later visited the memorials of Baba Gambhirnath, Mahant Digvijaynath and Mahant Avaidyanath, where he performed traditional rituals and sought blessings.In keeping with Nath tradition, the special ‘rot’ mahaprasad was offered to Guru Gorakhnath. The ceremonial observances culminated with the customary Guru Purnima collective aarti, during which devotees paid homage to the revered gurus of the Nath lineage.
