Nagpur: Gadchiroli police arrested six persons for allegedly putting up banners and pamphlets posing as Maoists in the Phulnar area. This marks the second major crackdown within days against individuals trying to spread fear in the name of Maoists.According to police, on July 25, a red cloth banner and a white paper poster were found tied between two trees on the Hiddur-Dobur Road, about 8km from Phulnar. The content of the poster aimed at instilling fear among locals.SP Gadchiroli M Ramesh ordered a probe into the incident. A case was registered at Kothi police station under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and Maharashtra Police Act.Investigation involving technical evidence and informers’ network led to the arrest of the accused — Joga Dhurve, 40, Malu Dhurve, 42, Dalsu Telami, 50, Chaitu Dhurve, 53, Ganesh Alami, 40, and Rajesh Vadde, 32 — all residents of Bhamragad tehsil.SP Ramesh said that Maoism has been completely eradicated from Gadchiroli district, with no active outlaws left. He appealed to citizens not to fall prey to rumours or false propaganda.
