Ahmedabad: AMC initiated urgent rainwater drainage operations across the city following waterlogging in several areas. In all, 24 teams have been deployed at 20 waterlogged locations across 10 wards. The civic body has also opened 141 catchpits and 85 manholes to drain accumulated water.In East Zone six locations were waterlogged, the highest. A six-member team there opened 59 catchpits and 25 manholes.No waterlogging was reported in the South Zone. In West Zone, five locations reported waterlogging. A six-member AMC team opened seven catchpits and two manholes. In North-West Zone, where seven locations were affected, a seven-member team opened 46 catchpits and 36 manholes. In South-West Zone, with two waterlogged locations, a two-member team opened nine catchpits and nine manholes. Municipal commissioner Banchha Nidhi Pani visited the Bopal-Ghuma area on Saturday to take stock of the situation. He inspected drainage operations at affected societies, including Iscon Green, Sentossa Park and the Ghuma lake area.
