Ahmedabad: After Thursday’s downpour and considering the weather forecast, the Ahmedabad district collector has announced a holiday on Friday for all govt, grant-in-aid and self-financed primary, secondary and higher secondary schools, as well as colleges in the city as well as rural areas.Ahmedabad City DEO Rohit Chaudhary, administrative officer Dr L D Desai and Ahmedabad Rural DEO B N Prajapati issued a circular on Thursday announcing the closure of all educational institutions on July 23 and 24. Authorities also instructed schools to ensure that all students present on campus were safely sent home in coordination with their parents.Rain intensified after classes had begun in many schools and colleges. In other cases, students had just reached the campuses. Within a short time, several roads became waterlogged, leading school authorities to send students home early. Parents were sent SMSes and WhatsApp messages, requesting them to pick up their children. Schools and colleges running afternoon batches were declared closed.
