Dharmapuri: A farmer was electrocuted after a high-tension power line fell on his tractor when he was ploughing an agriculture field near Karimangalam in Dharmapuri district on Tuesday.The deceased has been identified as M Govindasamy, 37, from Chikkathimmanahalli village under Adilam Panchayat. He sustained his livelihood by farming his own land and ploughing fields for others using his tractor. His wife Chitra passed away a few years ago, and he is survived by a young son and daughter.Police said the accident took place while Govindasamy was ploughing an agricultural land belonging to a local farmer named Palani. “The plough attached to the tractor reportedly hit a stay wire from a nearby transformer, causing it to snap and fall on the tractor. High-voltage electricity surged through the vehicle, throwing Govindasamy off the driver’s seat with severe force,” said a police officer from Karimangalam station.Nearby workers rushed him to the Karimangalam Government Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation into the incident.
