Durg: The BJP government in Chhattisgarh is focused on preparing the younger generation for future challenges by providing quality education, modern infrastructure in schools, technological resources and equal opportunities to students, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai said on Monday.
Sai noted the government was not only improving the education system, but also making it modern and inclusive to meet future requirements.
The CM made the comments while addressing the state-level ‘Shala Praveshotsav’ (School Enrolment Festival) 2026-27 at Swami Atmanand Government Excellent English Medium School at Jamgaon (M) village in Durg district’s Patan block, an official statement said.
The objective of education was not merely to help students secure high marks in examinations, but to also nurture moral values, promote scientific temper, social sensitivity and a sense of nationalism among them, he emphasised.
The state government was committed to ensuring that no child was deprived of opportunities or achieving dreams due to a lack of resources, the CM insisted.
Education was the strongest foundation for building a cultured society, a strong nation and a developed Chhattisgarh. The government was not only improving the education system, but also making it modern and inclusive to meet future requirements, Sai maintained.
Smart classrooms, timely distribution of free textbooks and uniforms, additional nutritious meals, regular parent-teacher meetings, and innovations rooted in Indian culture were creating an environment for the holistic development of children, he said.
The state’s teacher rationalisation exercise had brought about a historic improvement in the education sector, he said, adding no government school in Chhattisgarh was now functioning without teachers.
He insisted efforts were underway to provide quality education in remote and tribal areas, including development of education hubs in places such as Jagargunda (Surkma district) in the Bastar region, which was once affected by armed Naxalism.
Sai informed the gathering that Chhattisgarh currently has 15 medical colleges, 24 Nalanda library campuses and a 200-seat hostel facility in Delhi for students from the state pursuing higher studies.
On the occasion, he announced four major education and sports infrastructure projects for Durg district.
These are the construction of a modern composite office building for the Joint Director, District Education Officer and Block Education Officer, a state-of-the-art auditorium in Durg city, a football ground-cum-athletics track, and separate 100-seat hostels for boys and girls preparing for competitive examinations such as NEET and JEE, the release said.
Sai welcomed children taking admission for the first time by applying tilak on their foreheads and offering sweets to them.
He distributed free textbooks, uniforms and school bags to selected students of Classes I, VI and IX, and handed over bicycles to Class IX girls to encourage them to pursue higher education. PTI
