Ranchi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually inaugurated redeveloped Piska and Muri railway stations under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme (ABSS) on Friday. The two stations under the Ranchi division of the South Eastern Railway were among the 75 redeveloped Amrit Bharat stations that were virtually inaugurated by PM Modi.Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar, land and revenue minister Deepak Birua, Hatia MLA Naveen Jaiswal attended the inauguration function at Piska railway station.While attending the function, the governor said that ABSS is not merely a plan for the redevelopment of railway stations but a significant initiative towards building a modern, safe, eco-friendly and passenger-centric India.“Through initiatives like the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, Vande Bharat trains, railway electrification and modern safety systems such as ‘Kavach’, Indian Railways is scaling new heights, providing passengers with a safer, smoother and more convenient travel experience. The redeveloped Piska and Muri railway stations represent significant milestones in Jharkhand’s development. The design of these stations incorporates local culture and heritage alongside modern passenger amenities,” he said.Union minister of state for defence and Ranchi MP Sanjay Seth in a video posted on X platform said the redevelopment of Piska and Muri stations is not just the development of the stations. “It is an important step towards the expansion of railway services in the Ranchi Lok Sabha constituency. In 2019, we promised to revamp the Piska station similar to Anand Vihar station. I thank the Union railway minister under whose guidance Ranchi got the two modern stations,” Seth added.The redevelopment works of the two stations started in 2023. Under the redevelopment projects included renovated station buildings, new circulating and parking areas, lifts, foot over bridges, platform shelters, waiting rooms, booking counters, water booths, train and coach indicator boards, seating arrangements, Divyangjan-friendly infrastructure such as ramps, tactile tiles and accessible toilets, besides station façades reflecting local art and culture.Ranchi divisional railway manager Karuna Nidhi Singh said nearly Rs 200 crore is being spent on redeveloping 15 stations under the Ranchi division, with around Rs 10 crore invested each in Piska and Muri stations.
