Hyderabad: A red Ferrari, reportedly worth over Rs 3.5 crore, rammed into the gate of Hill View Apartments in Film Nagar, around 4 am on Sunday, completely damaging the front of the vehicle and the entrance of the residential building.No one was hurt, and no case was registered after the driver and the apartment owner settled the matter between themselves, police said.Videos of the wrecked luxury car that went viral across social media platforms, showed how the front was crushed beyond recognition.While sources claimed that the driver of the speeding high-end car fled from the scene immediately after the crash, it was dismissed by Film Nagar police. According to them, the driver was not only at the site when they arrived but was even put through an on-the-spot breathalyser test, which came out negative. “He also had a valid driving licence,” said an official, adding, “Since the apartment owner chose not to file a complaint, no FIR was registered.”The incident is the latest in a string of similar crashes involving luxury cars reported in the city over the last few months.On April 20, a man clicking pictures of his wife on the Durgam Cheruvu cable bridge was killed after a speeding Mercedes rammed into him, fracturing both his legs. He succumbed to his injuries subsequently.Earlier in Feb another Ferrari worth around Rs 4 crore jumped a road divider in Jubilee Hills, near actor Nandmuri Balakrishna’s house. The crash led to a vehicle pile-up that left three injured. Police registered a case of rash and negligent driving and found that the accident was caused due to a brake failure. The brake failure was reportedly established by the police on inspections following the accident, Jubilee Hills Inspector U Srinivasulu Reddy said.In Nov last year, yet another BMW being driven at high speed hit three vehicles at a traffic signal in Narsingi, seriously injuring a woman. The driver, a techie, was caught days after by the Narsingi police and was booked for rash and negligent driving.More recently, in May this year, a luxury car – a Defender in this case — being driven without a number plate overturned near Hi-Tec City after allegedly speeding, with its occupants leaving before police arrived. Just days before the recent crash, a SUV (Mahindra Scorpio) crashed into actor Dharma Mahesh’s house in Jubilee Hills, leading to a case of drunk and rash and negligent driving following a complaint by the celebrity’s family.
