Pune: A six-year-old girl, who was riding pillion on a scooter driven by her mother, died after a PMPML bus ran over her on the service road of the Katraj-Dehu Road bypass in Punawale on Saturday morning.The Ravet police have registered a case of causing death by negligence against the bus driver. He has not yet been arrested.Police sub-inspector Anil Tarfe of the Ravet police said the accident occurred around 11.15am when Khushbu Bishnoi was returning home from school with her mother. They were travelling from Punawale towards Kiwale. The bus, which was carrying school students, approached from the opposite direction.“There was a truck parked along the service road. While overtaking the truck, the bus veered onto the wrong side of the road,” Tarfe said, and added that the scooter brushed against the rear side of the bus, causing it to skid. The girl fell off the scooter and came under the rear wheels of the bus.“Her mother escaped unhurt as she fell on the opposite side,” the officer said. The girl was taken to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared her dead.“We have registered a case against the PMPML bus driver. Further investigation is underway,” Tarfe added.
