Vadodara: A businessman was duped of Rs 17.71 lakh by a person who promised to arrange a loan in the city. The accused identified as Rakesh Thakor cheated Aditya Parekh by promising the latter a loan of Rs 4 crore.According to the police, Parekh met Thakor in 2022. Thakor told Parekh that he can arrange a loan from an American bank after which the complainant trusted him. The accused then demanded money from Parekh under various pretexts including paying loan processing fees and other charges.The accused also showed him bogus documents to convince the complainant that his loan was under process. However, when Parekh didn’t get the loan, he realised that he had been cheated and approached Gorwa police to file a complaint.
