Nagpur: The new terminal of the Nagpur airport has been planned towards the Mihan project in the direction of the aircraft maintenance repair and overhaul (MRO) depots of Air India Engineering Services Limited (AIESL) and Indamer Aviation. The new terminal would be part of the second phase of the airport development, which also includes building a second runway.A dedicated bridge to be built by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) will directly connect the proposed terminal with the existing airport precinct, ensuring seamless movement of passengers and airport traffic between the two facilities. The integrated design aims to minimise travel time within the airport campus while improving operational efficiency, sources said. The location towards the Mihan side also complements ongoing infrastructure initiatives planned by other govt agencies. Union minister Nitin Gadkari announced that the NHAI is planning to develop a new approach road and flyover from the Hingna side, creating an additional entry point to the airport from the rear. The proposed road connectivity is expected to reduce congestion on existing airport access routes while providing easier connectivity for passengers travelling from western and southern parts of Nagpur, as well as the rapidly developing Mihan region.
