Namakkal: Tamil Nadu food safety and drug administration department officials seized a total of 48 kg of banned gutka products from two shops in Kolli Hills in Namakkal district on Wednesday.“Acting on credible information, we carried out surprise inspections at the two shops in Sengarai and Periyasamy Koil Medu areas of Kolli Hills. We seized 42 of gutka from one shop and six kg of the banned tobacco products from the other,” said food safety officer P Raja.Cases were registered against the shop owners. Officials said strict action would be taken against violators to curb the circulation of banned substances in the district. They appealed to the public to cooperate with them by sharing information on the sale or storage of banned tobacco products.(Photo: S Parthiban)
