Ahmedabad: The monsoon season began in Ahmedabad, with rainfall recorded in several western parts of the city on Thursday night. Between 8pm and 10pm, some western localities received an average of 15mm of rain. Thaltej recorded 15.5mm, the Science City area received 15mm, and Bodakdev registered 11mm of rainfall.According to data released by the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC), 1,416 potholes were reported from different parts of the city. Of these, 1,310 were repaired, while work on 106 potholes was underway.The city recorded an overall average rainfall of 0.13mm during the two-hour period on Thursday night. Zone-wise, the North West Zone received 20.1mm of rain, the West Zone recorded 0.1mm and the South West Zone registered 2.6mm. No rainfall was reported in the Central, East, North and South zones.Meanwhile, pothole-filling operations were carried out across the city on Thursday. The AMC recorded 32 potholes in the Central Zone, 216 in the East Zone, 377 in the North Zone, 24 in the North West Zone, 73 in the South Zone, 215 in the South West Zone and 477 in the West Zone.
