Dumka: The Deoghar administration has stepped up preparations to ensure tight security, smooth traffic movement and efficient crowd management at railway stations as lakhs of pilgrims are expected to arrive to offer prayers at Baba Baidyanath Dham Temple during the monthlong Shravani Mela.Deoghar deputy commissioner Saurabh Kumar Bhuvania on Saturday chaired a coordination meeting with railway and district officials to strengthen arrangements at Jasidih Junction, Deoghar and Baidyanath Dham railway stations. Officials were directed to work in close coordination to provide devotees a safe and hassle-free experience.The DC asked departments concerned to prepare a comprehensive crowd management plan to prevent stampede-like situations. Additional security personnel will be deployed at stations, while CCTV cameras will provide round-the-clock surveillance.“Additional special trains will also be operated in coordination with the railways to accommodate the pilgrims arriving from across the country,” Bhuvania said, adding that railway authorities have been asked to increase ticket counters to reduce waiting time and improve passenger convenience.Officials were also instructed to ensure adequate passenger shelters, uninterrupted power supply, clean drinking water and hygienic toilet facilities at all stations.Round-the-clock medical camps, equipped with doctors and essential lifesaving medicines, will be set up to handle emergencies. Information and assistance centres will operate at all three stations to guide devotees, particularly those arriving from other states.Bhuvania said all infrastructure and logistical preparations must be completed before the fair begins, stressing that a smooth and comfortable experience remains the administration’s top priority.The meeting was attended by SP Praveen Pushkar, deputy development commissioner Piyush Sinha, municipal commissioner Sulochana Meena, subdivisional officer Ravi Kumar and senior Asansol railway division officials, among others.
