Times News NetworkMohali: Police claimed to have cracked the murder of an 18-year-old boy in Nayagaon with the arrest of six persons, including a juvenile. The other accused have been identified as Bablu, Sanjay, Vishal, Deepak and Neeraj. Police said the motive was an old grudge.Nanak Singh, DIG, Ropar Range, said one of the accused was injured in the brawl and is undergoing treatment. His remand will be sought once he is discharged.On the intervening night of Thursday and Friday, Karanpreet, a resident of Khuda Ali Sher village in Chandigarh, was attacked with swords and knives in Nayagaon.Police said they have recovered the knife used in the crime. The victim and others often gathered at an abandoned building near the Nayagaon bridge, which locals described as a haunt for drug users.On Thursday night, a quarrel among youths escalated into violence, with the armed accused assaulting Karanpreet. His brother told the police that he left home on Thursday evening but did not return. Family members tried calling him, but his phone went unanswered.Later, the family was informed that Karanpreet Singh and another youth, Harpreet Singh, were found bleeding profusely near Nayagaon. Both were rushed to PGI, but Karanpreet succumbed to injuries.A team from Nayagaon police station reached the spot and began investigating. Police said the accused and victim had a spat two years ago and had been nursing a grudge since.
