Darbhanga: An assistant sub-inspector (ASI) posted in Patna was shot and injured while the alleged attacker was beaten to death following a clash at Ojhol village under Bahadurpur police station area of Darbhanga district on Friday.Police said Sunil Sahni, son of Dilip Sahni, allegedly fired at Mohd Mobin (50), hitting him in the stomach. Mobin, a resident of the same village and currently serving as an ASI at a police station in Patna, is undergoing treatment at a private hospital.According to a police press release, soon after the firing, a group of villagers allegedly attacked Sunil Sahni with lathis and traditional weapons, leading to his death on the spot.A team from Bahadurpur police station reached the village and sent Sahni’s body to Darbhanga Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) for post-mortem.Senior police officers visited the spot to assess the situation, while an FSL team collected blood samples and other evidence. SDPO (Sadar) is camping in the village.Bahadurpur SHO Prasunjay said Dilip Sahni, father of the deceased in his statement, has accused nine persons — including Sohan Sahni, Mohan Sahni, Rahul Sahni, Kanhaiya Paswan and the ASI, Mohd Mobin — of killing his son due to personal enmity. However, the police said further investigation is underway.
