Prayagraj: Five leaders from the Prayagraj region, including ‘rebel’ SP MLA Pooja Pal, have found a place in the newly announced state organisational team of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The state BJP leadership on Thursday announced a 46-member list of office-bearers who will steer the party’s poll prospects in the run-up to the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections.The new team, comprising 19 vice-presidents, eight general secretaries and 19 secretaries, was announced nearly six months after party MP and Union minister Pankaj Chaudhary took charge as the UP BJP chief in Dec last year.Interestingly, the BJP has appointed Chail (Kaushambi) MLA Pooja Pal, who was expelled from the Samajwadi Party’s primary membership, as a state vice-president. Pal, however, continues to be a member of the Samajwadi Party as per the state Assembly records.Apart from Pooja Pal, Dr Kritika Agarwal from the city is also appointed as vice-president.Party spokesperson Pawan Srivastava told TOI, “Five party members from the Prayagraj region have been included in the newly announced state organisational team. These include Pooja Pal and Kritika Agarwal as vice-presidents, Akshasha Sonkar as secretary, Rohit Mishra as state president of the BJP Yuva Morcha, and Suresh Maurya as vice-president.”“Rohit Mishra was the president of the Allahabad University Students’ Union (AUSU) in 2016, while Dr Kritika Agarwal served as state secretary of the BJP Mahila Morcha in 2018 and as its general secretary in 2021,” he added.Suresh Maurya served as state secretary of the BJP Kisan Morcha in 2021, while Akshasha Sonkar was the Mahila Morcha president of the Trans-Yamuna district in the same year.
