Nagpur: Kartik Gokhale emerged Nagpur topper in the Chartered Accountancy (CA) Intermediate examination results of which were declared on Wednesday. He scored 487 out of 600 marks in one of the country’s toughest professional examinations. Overall, 43 of the 361 candidates who appeared from Nagpur cleared the examination.The top performers from the city spoke to TOI about the discipline, perseverance and hard work that helped them succeed. For Kartik, consistent practice helped him overcome his weakness in mathematics. He plans to pursue articleship with a reputed firm. Despite an intensive study schedule, Kartik continued to make time for his passion for football, often adjusting his routine to watch matches.Second topper Arjun Chate, who scored 445 out of 600 marks, said he chose chartered accountancy because it offers exposure to multiple domains instead of limiting students to a single field. While he did not find the course difficult, he described memorisation as the biggest challenge.Arjun added he also worked extensively on improving his handwriting, believing presentation plays an important role in examinations. Though the long classroom hours were demanding, he said success requires sacrifice and perseverance.Third topper Manav Vanjani, who scored 427 out of 600, said the profession appealed to him because of the vast knowledge it offers. “A CA understands everything from accounts and valuation to the laws governing how a company functions,” he said.Manav admitted he was initially overwhelmed by the vast syllabus. “I did not expect the volume to be so large,” he said. Manav recalled that his parents had advised him to carefully consider the course because there was no fallback option, but their constant encouragement helped him remain motivated throughout his journey. Ishant Tejwani, who secured 423 out of 600 to secure the fourth spot, attributed his success to hard work and dedication. He said managing time across multiple subjects and classes was often challenging, but discipline helped him stay focused.Fifth topper Saqib Quadri, who scored 411 out of 600 and cleared the examination in his first attempt, identified auditing as the most challenging subject because of its extensive syllabus. “Audit is an exceptionally difficult subject because of the vast syllabus, so I devoted the most time to it and was able to score well,” he said.Quadri credited his parents for their unwavering support and expressed gratitude to his taxation teacher.
