New Delhi: In a first, a judge from India has been honoured by an influential international body on intellectual property. Justice Prathiba M. Singh of Delhi High Court has been honoured for her exceptional contribution to intellectual property jurisprudence in India and inducted by IAM – a leading IP publication into its IP Hall of Fame.Justice Singh was inducted at an event in San Diego, USA held 16 June 2026. She was honored for her impact on the development of intellectual property law in India and in shaping the modern IP landscape and her contribution beyond the courtroom. She now serves as Chairperson at WIPO Advisory Board of Judges.In her acceptance speech justice Singh noted that India is now a momentous country for IP and is making tremendous strides in the field. “This year we’ve had more than 150,000 patent applications filed in India which itself shows the kind of innovation that’s taking place.” The IP divisions in the Delhi High Court and other high courts in the country have given exclusive dedicated IP benches for dealing with IP disputes and India is the go-to IP country right now. I believe that my induction into the IP Hall of Fame is a recognition of India’s leadership in IP,” she added.
