Nagpur: The dilapidated building of Sant Gulab Baba Urdu School in Mominpura will soon be demolished and replaced with a new structure, with municipal commissioner Vipin Itankar directing officials to submit a proposal so that the school can start functioning from the next academic year.During an inspection of civic projects in Mominpura and Minimata Nagar on Wednesday, Itankar visited the Urdu school and asked officials to expedite plans for its reconstruction. He was accompanied by local corporator Wasim Khan, who raised the issue of rebuilding a new school.The commissioner also reviewed progress of the under-construction Muslim e-library in Mominpura, being developed on a 4,098.41 sq m plot at a cost of Rs20 crore under the District Planning Committee fund. He inspected the multipurpose hall and reading room and instructed officials to install an iron ramp for parking and complete the remaining works at the earliest.At the upcoming 30-bed Urban Community Health Centre in Minimata Nagar, Itankar directed officials to widen the side entrance, earmark parking space and lay paver blocks in designated areas. He also suggested developing the open space in front of the hospital into a walking track, garden and play area for residents.The commissioner instructed officials to equip the hospital with air conditioning, a modular operation theatre, an effluent treatment plant, quality furniture and rooftop solar panels through MEDA. The facility will provide OPD and IPD services, besides neonatal, paediatric, gynaecology, ophthalmology, dental, radiology, surgical and 24-hour emergency care services.
