The motive was to acquire a gold chain worth Rs 5 lakh that Prakash used to wear and a bracelet worth lakhs of rupees.Police said they did not find evidence initially, but identified the killer after examining about 500 CCTV cameras. “When the accused escaped from the coaching centre, he was wearing a burqa. His purpose was to throw dust in the eyes of the police, the police commissioner said.” “The team of DCP (Central) scoured 500 CCTV footage. After this, the team members easily reached the accused who had been arrested and sent to jail.”Police said Prakash and Mohit had been friends for about 18 years and used to drink alcohol together. Mohit started planning the murder in advance and put it into action 15 days earlier, and that he made the plan after watching series like Crime Patrol on TV and YouTube, the police said.To hide his identity and mislead the police, Mohit bought a burqa, women’s slippers, gloves, and other items, and conducted reconnaissance of CCTV cameras in the area.Mohit had obtained B.Ed, MA and LLB degrees, appeared for the PGT examination, and was proficient in English language.
