Rohtak: The vice chancellor of Pandit Bhagwat Dayal Sharma University of Health Sciences (PBDUHS), Rohtak, issued show-cause notices on Friday to two examiners from the department of oral surgery of its constituent dental college. The notices sought an explanation within seven days why they should not be removed from answer sheet evaluation duties and other examination-related responsibilities, and why action should not be initiated against them under the provisions of the UHS ordinance. The action followed a complaint submitted recently by a group of Bachelor of Dental Surgery (Final) students regarding the evaluation of the maxillofacial surgery examination. The students alleged that their answer sheets were awarded unusually low marks and that the evaluation was not carried out fairly. Taking the matter seriously, VC Dr H K Aggarwal ordered an inquiry and directed the controller of examinations to investigate the allegations. The inquiry reportedly found deficiencies in the answer sheets evaluated by the two examiners concerned.Subsequently, the VC ordered a review of all answer sheets assessed by the two examiners. The review was conducted by senior faculty members from another govt dental college. Approximately 84 answer sheets were re-examined during the review process. Based on the shortcomings identified, students were awarded average marks, and a revised examination result was declared. Dr Aggarwal stated that any negligence affecting students would not be tolerated under any circumstances. He emphasised that the university had taken this important step to ensure that no student’s future is adversely impacted. Providing a transparent and academically sound environment for students remains the university’s highest priority. MSID: 131532522 413 |
