Bhubaneswar: National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences, New Delhi, has granted recognition for six additional postgraduate (PG) medical seats in Odisha.While Koraput’s SLN Medical College and Hospital has received recognition for four DNB (Diplomate of National Board) seats in the department of obstetrics and gynaecology, Puri’s District Headquarters Hospital has received recognition for two MBBS diploma seats in paediatrics.“This will provide a significant boost to the medical education and specialist healthcare in the state. The recognition will make it easier to strengthen the health system and healthcare infrastructure in the KBK region and coastal districts, improve the patient-doctor ratio, and ensure maternal and childcare services,” said an official statement issued by the health and family welfare department.Health minister Mukesh Mahaling said reaction that the increase in these seats will strengthen Odisha’s healthcare services.
