Mandya: Durga Stalin, wife of former Tamil Nadu chief minsiter MK Stalin, visited the Nimishamba Temple at Ganjam near Srirangapatna on Monday and offered special prayers to the presiding deity.Accompanied by family members, Durga was welcomed at the temple by local dignitaries. She was joined by daughter and son-in-law of senior Karnataka leader and JD(S) MLA GT Devegowda during the visit. As part of the rituals, she performed the traditional ‘Udi Seve’, offering a silk saree, glass bangles, flowers and fruits to Goddess Nimishamba, officials said.Special prayers and archana were conducted in the names of Stalin and her son, Udhayanidhi Stalin, seeking the blessings of the deity for their well being and prosperity.Temple authorities said Durga participated in various religious rituals and spent nearly 30 minutes at the temple. Devotees and visitors were at the shrine during her visit, while security arrangements were put in place to ensure smooth conduct of the programme. Nimishamba Temple, situated on the banks of River Cauvery, is a prominent pilgrimage centre.After completiing rituals, Durga received ‘prasada’ from the temple priests. She also visited Sri Chamundeshwari Temple atop the Chamundi Hills in Mysuru.
