Gaya: In a joint raid on Monday morning, district drugs control officials and Kotwali police seized a huge quantity of narcotic and spurious medicines, raw materials, machines and packaging equipment from a house in Piparpanti mohalla under the Kotwali police station area.A tenant, Vikas Kumar, was arrested during the raid for allegedly running the illegal operation from the first floor of the building owned by former Chatra MP late Ranjit Singh alias Ran Singh. Offices of the animal husbandry and fisheries departments operate on the ground floor.Police recovered large quantities of suspicious medicines, including narcotic drugs, cough syrups and sleeping pills.Assistant drug controller Vijay Kumar said, “Preliminary interrogation of the accused revealed that the medicines were allegedly brought from Deoghar and stored at the premises before being supplied to other places.”He said officials were assessing the value of the seized items and probing possible links to other districts and states.“It is suspected that a racket was involved in the supply of narcotic medicines to multiple locations,” Vijay said, adding that more suspects had been identified during the investigation.
