Michael Jackson’s biopic, ‘Michael,’ has mentions of some of the smallest and biggest parts of his life. From his family to where he started, his monkey, along with many other instances from his life, were covered in the film. This also included mentioning the very restaurant where Jackson met his private chef, Akasha Richmond. While attending a screening of the film, the chef was all smiles as she reacted to the restaurant being mentioned.
Akasha Richmond reacts to the ‘Michael’ film
When Richmond attended the TCL Chinese Theatre premiere for the biopic film last month, she was in for a surprise that she had not expected. While talking to PEOPLE, she revealed that she and another chef who worked at the restaurant had gone to the premiere to watch the film. Further on, she described the scene, which included the singer filming for a commercial, which resulted in his hair catching fire and him rushing to the hospital. “They bring in this big platter of food. And the actor that plays Bill Bray [KeiLyn Durrel Jones], which was his head of security and a dear friend to Michael, said … It was so fast, I didn’t catch the whole sentence, but it was something like, ‘Hey, we brought you all your favorites from the Golden Temple,’” she further shared.The chef also quipped that the entire thing was very exciting for them, “So, our restaurant got a shout out. We were excited”, she added.
What Akasha Richmond think of the ‘Michael’ biopic
When asked about what she thought of the film, Richmond could not control her excitement. She shared that the film was great, and it was an amazing experience for the two chefs to attend the screening and see it with all of the other fans. Adding more details, she shared that “The film’s great … People were screaming. The fans were going nuts in the audience. I thought that all the characters, even the young kid [Juliano Krue Valdi] that played Michael as a young boy, I just thought it was really great. The music was great, the story, and it showed a lot of the creative process.”As per the report, Richmond had also made and distributed Jackson’s favourite cookies at the event as well.
When did Akasha Richmond and Michael Jackson meet?
Richmond and Jackson met while she was working at The Golden Temple. Though the restaurant has now closed, it still holds fond memories for her. Later on, she was hired by the singer to accompany him on tour and other events. She was with him during the ‘Bad Tour,’ which went from 1987 to 1989, along with the ‘HIStory World Tour’, which ran from 1996 to 1997.
