Srinagar, May 19: Ahead of the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha celebrations, Traffic Police City Srinagar has issued a comprehensive traffic advisory aimed at ensuring smooth vehicular movement and public safety across the city during the festive period.
In anticipation of increased public movement, shopping activity, and transportation pressure, the traffic department appealed to commuters, pedestrians, transport operators, vendors, and the general public to cooperate in maintaining road discipline and minimizing congestion.
According to the advisory, citizens have been urged to park vehicles only at designated parking spaces and avoid roadside sale or display of sacrificial animals, which often leads to severe traffic bottlenecks. The department also advised passenger vehicle operators against overloading, unauthorized stoppages, and slow movement on busy roads.
Authorities stressed the importance of carpooling, lane discipline, and adherence to the notified route plans and traffic diversions. Hawkers and vendors were directed not to encroach upon footpaths, while pedestrians were requested to use alternative routes wherever possible to avoid congestion-prone areas.
The advisory further emphasized giving priority to emergency and referral services, avoiding unnecessary loitering in crowded areas, and planning travel in advance to prevent last-minute rushes.
“Road discipline must be treated as a collective responsibility,” the advisory stated, underlining the need for public cooperation to restore and maintain peace on city roads during the festive days.
The traffic department concluded the advisory with a message of goodwill and social responsibility, stating:
“May the spirit of sacrifice rejuvenate our thought towards decent living.”
Senior Superintendent of Police, Traffic City Srinagar, appealed to all residents to strictly follow the guidelines in the larger interest of public convenience, safety, and smooth traffic management during Eid-ul-Azha festivities.
