Dibrugarh: Members of the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) protested in Dibrugarh on Monday, demanding the resignation of Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan over the NEET-UG 2026 paper leak controversy that has triggered nationwide outrage and left over 22 lakh medical aspirants in uncertainty.The protesters took out a procession to the office of the district commissioner, raising slogans and waving placards condemning the alleged failure of the examination system under the present central govt. The protest continued for over an hour before the students submitted a memorandum addressed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, seeking an independent probe into the leak and the immediate removal of Pradhan from the Union cabinet.The Dibrugarh protest was part of a nationwide agitation by NSUI and other student organisations following the National Testing Agency’s (NTA) decision to cancel the NEET-UG 2026 examination. The NTA announced the cancellation after reports surfaced that the question paper had been leaked days before the May 3 exam.“The future of lakhs of medical aspirants has been jeopardised due to criminal negligence and the collapse of the examination system. The faith of students has been shattered. The education minister must take responsibility and step down,” said an NSUI leader during the protest.
