Lucknow: A 12-year-old boy drowned while bathing in a pond in Lucknow’s Bakshi Ka Talab (BKT) area on Saturday afternoon, police said.According to police, the deceased, Samar Kanojia, had gone to bathe in a pond located around 400 metres from his house at around noon when he accidentally drowned.Police said the child was later taken by family members to the 100-bed hospital in BKT, where doctors declared him brought dead.After receiving information from the hospital, a police team reached there and questioned the family members. The boy’s father told police that the child had drowned while bathing in the pond and did not express any suspicion regarding the incident.“The family also refused to get a postmortem conducted and submitted a written request stating they did not wish to pursue any complaint in the matter. The body was later handed over to the family after necessary formalities,” said SHO BKT Sanjay Kr Singh.
