Hyderabad: Justice Surepalli Nanda of the Telangana high court broke her own record by disposing of 226 writ petitions in a single day on April 29.Previously, Justice Nanda had pronounced judgements in 76 cases when the court reopened after summer vacation in June 2024. Prior to that, in June 2023, the judge had created a record by pronouncing separate judgments in 71 cases on a single day. All the judgments were pronounced in open court.In the latest instance, in one batch of matters disposed of by the judge, the petitions related to the appointment of official persons in-charge of committees to primary agricultural cooperative societies (PACS) across the state. The petitioners sought the court to direct the registrar, co-operative societies, to hold elections to farmer cooperative societies.Justice Nanda disposed of the batch while observing that the elected managing committees existing as on February 14, 2025, shall continue until the govt took a decision on the subject issue. Other matters related to land disputes and alleged illegal vehicle seizures. It was noted that the majority of the cases disposed of on April 29 were filed in the high court in 2025 and 2026.
