Ahmedabad: A team of Abhayam 181 women helpline united a one-year-old girl with her parents on Mother’s Day. The officials said that the girl was held by grandmother after a tiff with the parents.“The call was made by the woman from a western city area. The woman told us that her daughter is with her mother-in-law. About six months ago, she had taken away the daughter and had thrown her and her husband out of the house after domestic tiff. When she tried to take her back, she was attacked by her other in-laws,” said a counsellor.The counsellor added that the in-laws were appraised of their legal situation and were told to hand over the child. “They were told that the parents have the first right over the child and the daughter cannot be held hostage for the domestic tiff. They agreed to bury the hatchet and hand over the girl to the parents. We were happy that the union took place on the occasion of Mother’s Day,” said the counsellor.
