Sarma will take oath on May 12 in Guwahati. In a series of posts on X, Sarma said, “2021-2026 was just the trailer. 2026-2031 will unveil the full picture. Get ready for NDA 3.0 — In service 12th May 2026.”
Sarma on Monday indicated that the new state cabinet is likely to have 18 to 19 ministers.
He said discussions on the final composition of the cabinet would take place only after the arrival of BJP national president Nitin Nabin in Guwahati later in the night.
“There is no written list yet of the MLAs to be inducted into the cabinet. The new Assam cabinet is likely to have around 18 to 19 members, and all the names are currently in my mind,” Sarma said.
He added, “Before a proper discussion with Nitin Nabin, I cannot say anything because I have to go by the party’s overall guidance. Nitin Nabin is expected to arrive in Guwahati around 10 pm on Monday, following which crucial discussions on cabinet berths and portfolio distribution are expected to take place.”
“BJP national president Nitin Nabin will reach Guwahati by 10 pm today, and only after that will I be able to discuss the cabinet berths. Since I will accompany him from the airport to his accommodation, the discussion will unfold during that time and is expected to conclude by then,” he added.Sarma said even the MLAs selected for ministerial berths would be informed only on Tuesday morning.
The swearing-in ceremony is scheduled to begin around 11 am on Tuesday and is expected to witness the presence of top NDA leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.
He added, “The Chief Ministers and Deputy Chief Ministers of 22 states will be present for the ceremony. Apart from NDA Chief Ministers, the Chief Minister of Mizoram will also attend.”
The ceremony is also expected to witness participation from diplomats, religious leaders and industrialists from across the country.
Sarma said his government’s regular office functioning would formally begin on May 13.
Sarma stated, “Connectivity is the bedrock of development, and we have worked on a mission mode to connect every nook and corner of Assam. The four national honours received by Assam under PMGSY reflect the impact of our sustained efforts and strengthen our resolve to further expand connectivity and infrastructure across the state. Congratulations to everyone associated with this achievement. As I always say, we are just getting started.”
He added, “A better future is not a promise, it is our mission. NDA 3.0 will fuel Atmanirbhar Assam with Rs 5 lakh entrepreneurship support to 10 lakh youths, which means more jobs, stronger local growth and unstoppable support for dreamers and job creators.”
He said the wages of tea garden workers would be increased in a phased manner to Rs 500 per day.
“For the last 10 years, the NDA government has worked for the holistic development of Assam’s Cha Shramiks, who are the backbone of our 200-year-old tea legacy. In #NDA3.0, we will further strengthen the lives and livelihoods of every Cha Shramik with a phased wage increase to Rs 500,” Sarma said.
Sarma continued, “Assam’s land, identity and future are non-negotiable. After freeing 1.5 lakh bighas of land from encroachment, NDA 3.0 moves ahead with a firm resolve to reclaim 5 lakh more bighas for the people of Assam. Because for us, Jati, Mati, Bheti comes first.”
