Voters District police maintained a strong vigil at every polling station.Senior police officers conducted surprise inspections at various polling booths from early morning and issued necessary security instructions to personnel deployed on election duty. Tight security arrangements were put in place around polling stations to prevent any disturbance by anti-social elements, creating a safe atmosphere for voters.Police officials and personnel of all ranks, about 1,550 in number, monitored ground-level activities continuously during the voting process. In compliance with Election Commission guidelines, mobile phones were not allowed inside polling centres. Police teams also dispersed unnecessary gatherings near booths and cleared haphazardly parked vehicles from roads to ensure smooth movement of voters, especially senior citizens.Security personnel were also seen assisting elderly and differently abled voters to make the polling process easier and more accessible. According to police officials, additional force was deployed at sensitive booths and crowded areas where there was a possibility of disturbance or unlawful activity.
