Times News NetworkChandigarh: UT Police arrested a man sitting in a private car wearing an Indian Air Force (IAF) uniform from near the gate of the Air Force station, Sector 31. Police said the accused, Sumit Kumar, is a resident of Hoshiarpur, Punjab.The complainant, Flight Lieutenant Manish Deo Singh, station security officer, Main Gate 3BRD, said that on May 8, a private taxi bearing Punjab registration was found parked around 25 to 30 metres outside the main gate of 3 BRD.A man was found sitting inside the car in the blue uniform of the Air Force, with chevrons of Sergeant rank.During inquiry, he said he is a cab driver from Sector 110, Mohali, and was hired by an Air Force unit (Ground Examination Board) for transporting VIPs at 3 BRD. However, was not able to give a satisfactory reply about wearing the Air Force uniform. The complainant informed the Sector 31 police station and handed him over to the police. Air Force officials requested the police to verify the character and antecedents of the accused. They also sought a thorough probe into his intention behind wearing an Air Force uniform.Police registered a case against Sumit and arrested him. MSID:: 130993643 413 |
