Gorakhpur: Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) workers on Sunday staged a protest against SP chief Akhilesh Yadav at Indra Vihar Tiraha over the alleged objectionable comment made against BJP state chief Pankaj Chaudhary from a social media account, reportedly linked to the IT cell of Samajwadi Party. As part of the protest, the BJYM workers burnt an effigy of the SP chief and raised slogans like “Akhilesh Tum Maafi Maango” while carrying placards.BJP supporters and members of the Kurmi community termed the alleged remark an insult not only to a political leader but also to the dignity and self-respect of the community.Speaking to reporters, BJYM regional general secretary Ambikesh Dhar Dubey alleged that SP had stooped to “low-level politics” and accused it of undermining democratic values.BJYM regional vice-president Satyendra Sinha also criticised the opposition party, saying that it had forgotten the role of a constructive opposition and was indulging in personal attacks. “He (Akhilesh) appears frustrated as the SP’s political hold in Uttar Pradesh is weakening. The people of the state will teach them a lesson in the 2027 Assembly elections,” Sinha said.
