Kanpur: The Directorate General of Training (DGT) under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship will host a high-level industry consultation at the National Skill Training Institute (NSTI) on Friday. The event is being seen as a major step towards building a globally competitive aerospace skills ecosystem in India.More than 30 senior industry leaders, CEOs and policy experts are expected to participate in the consultation, which will focus on the establishment of a National Centre of Excellence (NCoE) for Aeronautics and Allied Sectors — a first-of-its-kind institution in the country.The proposed NCoE at NSTI Kanpur is being developed under Component-II of the PM-SETU Scheme, the govt of India’s flagship initiative aimed at transforming Industrial Training Institutes into modern, sector-specific centres of vocational excellence.Discussions during the programme will centre on the proposed NCoE framework, the role of a Lead Industry Partner (LIP), co-investment models, curriculum co-development, instructor training pathways and international recognition of qualifications to improve global employability of trainees.
