Dumka: A 25-year-old woman from Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Group (PVTG) allegedly died due to medical negligence while giving birth at a private clinic in Godda on Wednesday. The accused doctor fled the clinic, located in Kedobazar under Sundarpahari police station limits, as locals blocked the road and stage protests.Meera Malto, a resident of Ratanpur Kusum Ghati, belonged to Pahariya community and was expected her second child. While the newborn is safe, she died during the operation. After the incident, the doctor present at the clinic allegedly fled.Villagers blocked the Sundarpahari main road at Kedobazar, accusing the clinic of gross negligence and alleging it was operating without proper authorisation, adequate facilities or qualified doctors. The deceased woman’s family also accused local Jal Sahiya Sara Malto of directing them to the private clinic instead of a government hospital.Police later cleared the blockade. “ The matter is being investigated,” Godda civil surgeon Dr. Subhash Sharma said.
