Berhampur: Police have unearthed an illegal country-made gun making unit at Labanya Nagar under Kandhamal district’s Tumudibandha police station limits on Thursday. “Daitari Bindhani (40) of the same village was arrested for running the illegal manufacturing unit,” said Baliguda SDPO, Shubham Bhosale, on Wednesday.Acting on a tip off, a police team conducted raids at the village and found out about the illegal functioning of the unit. Three country-made guns, two wooden butts, two iron barrels, four trigger sets and other equipments were seized. They also seized electric drill, cutter and blower machines, tools like hammers, chisels, wrenches and many more, the SDPO said.With this police have busted three illegal arms manufacturing units and seized 26 forearms in a month. Other units were busted in Bamunigaon and Gochapada police station areas. Ten persons were arrested during a special drive for illegally possessing the guns, he said.The highest 10 firearms seized by the Tumudibandha police, followed by Gochhapada (4), Daringbadi (3), two each in Bamunigaon, Belghar and Raikia police stations. One country-made guns were seized in Tikabali, Khajuripada and Phiringia each.
