Vadodara: A woman in her 20s, Divya Parmar, was strangled to death on Ankodia Road after an argument with her boyfriend over suspected infidelity on Sunday. Police arrested the accused, Rohan Vankar, on Wednesday.Police said Vankar, a native of Bodeli, had been in a relationship with Parmar for the past four months. Parmar worked at a private hospital, while Vankar was employed at a café near Cow Circle. According to police, the couple had frequent arguments over the past few days, as Vankar suspected Parmar was having an affair with another man. On Sunday, Vankar called Parmar and took her on his two-wheeler to Ankodia Road. “Vankar asked her to show him her mobile phone messages. She refused, after which they got into an argument. An angry Vankar first used her dupatta to strangle her. When she fell on the ground, he strangled her with a charging cable he was carrying,” the police said. Vankar left the body at the spot and fled on his two-wheeler. Parmar had told her family she was going out to get mehendi put. When she did not return for several hours, her brother called her but got no reply. Her family approached police with a missing person’s complaint. On Tuesday, they learned that a woman’s body had been found in Ankodia and rushed to the hospital, where they identified Parmar. Police then began investigations. The deceased’s brother alleged that police did not act swiftly in the initial stages.
