Ghaziabad: Police have arrested a 33-year-old man and his girlfriend for killing his father over a property dispute in Loni. The man, Bilal, was arrested from Mumbai, while his girlfriend Khusboo, a resident of Delhi’s Patel Nagar, was arrested from Loni. The matter came to the fore after police were alerted to a foul smell coming from a residential building in Toli Mohalla near Noor Masjid. Investigators recovered the body of Azimuddeen, 70, a resident of Loni, from the basement of the building on April 8. The body had signs of brutal assault. Police later found the house belonged to Khusboo.Earlier, the deceased’s wife had filed a missing person complaint at the Loni police station. In it, she had mentioned that her husband was missing from the evening of April 4.When the body was recovered from Toli Mohalla, Nasreen, the deceased’s wife, identified it as her husband.During investigation, police analysed CCTV footage from around the area. The images of three suspects were captured while they were entering the building where Azimuddin’s body was found. Nasreen identified Bilal from the footage.“Bilal has been living away for quite some time. My husband disinherited him from the property and he held a grudge against him for this reason. Previously too, he had threatened to kill my husband on several occasions,” she said.ACP Siddharth Gautam said that on the basis of the complaint, an FIR was registered against Bilal and two unknown persons under Section 103 (murder) of BNS at Loni police station. Later, police identified the unknown persons as Khusboo and Nisar Ansari. Five teams were formed to nab them. Police also announced a reward of Rs 20,000 for information on each accused.“With the help of surveillance and manual input, on May 5, a police team traced Bilal to the Thane area of Mumbai and arrested him. We brought him to Ghaziabad and he will be presented before the court. Khusboo was arrested on May 5 from the Loni police station area. Efforts are ongoing for the arrest of wanted accused Nisar Ansari,” he said.During interrogation, Bilal said his parents had thrown him out of their house years ago. “Even after a lot of persuasion, his father did not give him any share of the property nor any expenses for his livelihood. It is then that he hatched a plan to kill him with his associates. He called Azimuddin to Khusboo’s house, and assaulted him brutally. Later, they took the body to the basement, locked the house and fled. While Bilal had already gone to Mumbai, Khusboo was on her way there when she was arrested,” the ACP said.
