Kanpur: A father and son were killed in a road accident on the Kanpur-Aligarh Highway near Araul in Kanpur on Monday morning after their speeding motorcycle rammed into the rear of a mini-truck parked on the roadside, police said.The deceased were identified as Kamlesh Kumar, 52, alias Sarvesh, son of Raj Narayan Batham and a resident of Fattepur village in Kakwan, and his 19-year-old son, Ankur. Police said Ankur was riding the motorcycle while Kamlesh was seated pillion.According to police, the two went to Arjunpur village in Kannauj’s Chhiramau area on Sunday evening to attend a wedding ceremony. They were returning home on Monday morning when the accident took place near GPRD Mahavidyalaya in Araul.Both suffered severe head injuries in the collision. Police said Ankur’s helmet broke and fell on the road during the impact. After receiving information, police reached the spot and rushed the injured to a nearby community health centre by ambulance, where doctors declared them dead.Inspector Janardan Singh said the motorcycle lost control before crashing into the parked mini-truck. The vehicle fled after the incident, and efforts are on to trace it. Police said the bodies are being sent for post-mortem, and further legal action will follow.
