Jaipur: University of Rajasthan emerged champions in the All India Inter-University Handball Men tournament which concluded at the University Sports Complex here on Saturday.The five-day tourney was organised by the University of Rajasthan Sports Board in which top sixteen teams from across the country are participating.In a well-contested final, University of Rajasthan beat UEM Chomu Jaipur 24-18 to clinch the title.Devendra, Mohit and Dinesh Dudi struck five goals each to help hosts regain the title after a gap of more than a decade.For UEM Chomu Jaipur, Divyanshu scored five goals, while Shyam and Ajay contributed four goals each.In the hard-line final, Lovely University, Punjab (LPU) defeated Saurashtra University, Rajkot 34-22 to claim the bronze medal.For LPU, Manish notched up 11 goals. He was well supported by Paramjeet (8) and Sumit (7). Harsh (6), Jagraj (5), Bhavesh and Nitin (3 each) fought well for the Rajkot side.University of Rajasthan’s Dinesh Dudi was adjudged as player-of-the-tournament, while Hardayal of UEM University bagged best goalkeeper of the tournament award.Organising secretary Dr Pratibha Singh Ratnu, secretary, sports board, Kuldeep Dhankar, chairman, Univ sports board, tournament technical director Subrat Saini, AIU observer Harish B Raba, SL Pareek and Pramod Singh were present during the prize distribution function.
