Hyderabad: Five days after a dacoity at Burugupalli in Siddipet, the district police on Thursday arrested nine individuals, including a retired Army personnel, and recovered stolen property worth 20 lakh. Some of the arrested are repeat offenders.Siddipet commissioner of police Rashmi Perumal said that on April 4, unidentified persons entered the residence of a doctor, tied the inmates with ropes and towels, and threatened to kill them. The accused stole gold chains, earrings, 1 lakh in cash, and two mobile phones.Based on CCTV footage and fingerprints, the accused were traced and arrested. Investigation revealed that the prime conspirator, Srikanth, a retired Army personnel working as a security guard at a fuel station, planned the robbery with his friends Sham and Chandrasekhar.“While searching for professional criminals, Srikanth met Ganesh (30), Premchand (21), and Pavan (23) near a court. These three had prior criminal records in Mulugu, Ramagundam, and Bhadrachalam. Srikanth convinced them to join the plan,” the CP said.On the day of the offence, Ganesh, Premchand, and Pavan conducted a recce of the victim’s house and consumed liquor. They later entered the house armed with knives, wearing masks and gloves, while other accomplices kept watch outside.After the robbery, Prakash and Vinay were involved in disposing of the stolen property. Ganesh had previously been involved in 13 cases, while Pavan had 10 prior cases.
