Bengaluru: Nearly 15 per cent of Karnataka’s electorate, about 84.3 lakh out of 5.5 crore registered voters have been flagged under the absent, shifted, dead, duplicate, and others (ASDDO) list in the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) drive.The Greater Bengaluru Area (GBA) accounts for almost half (46.7 per cent) of these flagged electors, despite holding a population of 1 crore voters. In BBMP South district, the percentage of voters marked as ASDDO has surpassed the number of voters whose enumeration forms were filled and digitised through booth level officers (BLOs).Data analysis reveals nine assembly constituencies across GBA’s four districts — Bengaluru Urban, BBMP North, BBMP Central, and BBMP South — have a higher chunk of ASDDO cases than digitised entries. These include Dasarahalli in Bengaluru Urban; CV Raman Nagar in BBMP North; Rajarajeshwarinagar and Rajajinagar in BBMP Central; and Bommanahalli, Vijayanagar, BTM Layout, Basavanagudi, and Govindarajanagar in BBMP South.Chief electoral officer V Anbukumar said, “For all ASDDO cases, a spot mahazar is conducted with signatures from booth level agents (BLAs), locals, or BLO supervisors as witnesses.” He added individuals claiming duplicate entries self-declare their status, while those refusing to sign fall under the others category. “For deceased electors, a death certificate is obtained or a spot mahazar is performed with witness signatures,” he said.To prevent wrongful classification, election officials share ASDDO records with BLAs and local political representatives for verification. Voters incorrectly flagged under ASDDO have immediate and long-term redressal options. Electoral registration officers (EROs) hold the authority to roll back incorrect entries, and BLOs can edit records until Aug 8, when the enumeration drive ends. Citizens missing this deadline can still submit Form 6 to secure inclusion in the final electoral roll scheduled for release on Oct 19.Poll officials are conducting targeted outreach campaigns to guide voters through form submissions while ensuring that field officers complete digitisation within statutory timelines.
